Default 1969 Steering Actuator Rod

Inapologize if this question has been answered. I could not find it on my search. I have a 1969 that has a broken ignition actuator. Do I have to remove the bearing housing in order to be able to change the broken rod with a new one? It is a T&T column. Any help is much appreciated

Yes... You'll need to get all the way to the rack to remove the rod... it's the only way. Are you sure the rod is broken and not the rack? It would be more common for the rack to be bad then the rod.

I apologize it is the rack and not the rod. I have been able to raise the column and push it to the right to free the rack from the rod, but I and stuck on how to remove and replace the rack.

You'll have to tear it down to the point in the picture above. Not easy but not really that hard. Go to the tech site of ours and look at the pictures, also look at how to install the turn signal switch, that paper will get you almost where you need to be.
