Default Engine ID

Hi Guys!

I am still trying to ID engine in my 75 Vette. The previous owner could not offer much help. He said it was a chevy 350,4bolt main, not orginal engine. I checked the pad on the passenger side cyl head. I only could make out the last two digits(00). On the rear of the engine, driver side, I found a casting clock, just to the left, the number 14816379 with GM above the first three numbers. Any help would be appreceiated. Thanks Again, Rich

I can't find a list for the casting number you provided. Possibly he read the 3rd digit as an 8 when it's really a zero? If so, then you have a 350 block from a 77-79 Chevy, could be either 2 or 4 bolt.

14016379...350...77-79...2 or 4

if the 3rd digit reads 3 instead of 8 the MSA-1 book calls it up as a 86-88
car/truck 350 with a one piece rear seal.
