What's the deal with that. Yes, the headlight switch is set correctly, courtesy lights are not turned on by that switch. Just started happening. The passenger door lock seems to be sticking and not wanting to lock. There is an alarm. Sounds like something hanging up. In the meantime, sounds like a fuse is going to be pulled out!

Check the switches in the door jams. If they are not adjusted correctly the lights could stay on. There could also be a problem with the wire grounding out before it gets to the switch.

Your courtesy delay timer is probably shot. It's the orange box w/ black & orange wires on the pass side, behind the heater ducting (near A-pillar)
If you can't find an orange box buy the early C4 one (black). It's the same circuit layout and the edge card conenctor has the same connections in the correct order, only the case is different and the tab to secure the connector is on the wrong side but you can just push it in.
This it the one:
Re: Interior courtesy lights won't go off (Twin_Turbo)
Thanks, will try to look for it this weekend if I can get the time. Working Saturdays and Sunday oldest daughter coming home after two years - of course we have been to California to see her, but she has not been able to get home. But I digress....in the meantime, took out the courtesy lights. The fuse killed the radio and power door locks. Duh!
Re: Interior courtesy lights won't go off (Twin_Turbo)
I think you are right. But, could you help out and be a little more specific as to where the delay is located? Twisting my neck as much as I can and also feeling around, I cannot find the relay. Is it behind the kick plate or do I have to take out the glove box to get to it? My assembly manual just has a general area also.
Re: Interior courtesy lights won't go off (Larry82)
Pop a few screws out and pull the glovebox. It's a lot easier that way. It's on the right once the glove box is out. I had the same problem as you. Before you spend the cash on a new delay, try new door jamb switches. $1.79 at Autozone or whatever autoparts store you go to. That fixed the problem for me. :)
Re: Interior courtesy lights won't go off (ice pac)
Thanks for the info. Had a feeling it was behind the glove box. Do you know if you can just bypass the delay. Don't see much need for the delay. Door open, lights on. Door closed, lights off. If I want interior lights, twist headlight switch. That would be the cheapest yet.
Re: Interior courtesy lights won't go off (Larry82)
I can't tell you for sure if you can eliminate the delay. It seems feasible. I'd think you would just have to connect two of the wires that run into the delay. Someone posted what each wire was for. I printed it out and have it somwhere. You should be able to find it by doing a search on "courtesy lights"

What happens if your door pin switchs won't reach the door ? I have that problem on my passenger side. The door seems to be adjusted ok, it just won't throw the switch.
