Default 72 Auto Trans Crossmember Red?

I'm trying to figure this one out.. I have my motor and trans out of my car for rebuild. Doing detailing in the engine bay and underside. Is this correct?

Very odd. With the exception of repaint in the wrong color, my car is pretty original. Scratching my head wondering why this is ended up like this.

What color do you want it to be? It's your car.

Do the numbers match, VIN, engine, and transmission? Perhaps a PO took the transmission out to replace the clutch, and painted the crossmember with whatever was at hand. It could be anti-fouling paint from the PO's boat!

all numbers match. PO passed away so I have no history of the car.
