Default 1973 LS3/TR6060 Conversion - Driveshaft Options

Good Evening All,

I am to the point with my LS conversion where I need to start contemplating what I will do for a drive shaft. I may be making this more complicated than what it is, but I noticed this was kind of glossed over in the big "C3 LSX Conversion Directory" thread. It think mine may be a bit more complicated since there is not a slip yoke on the tail of a TR6060 so their must be spline in the shaft to allow for some lateral movement. I have the original driveshaft and the two piece driveshaft from the 2013 SS Camaro the tranny came out of, what of these parts could be of use? Is there a company that I can send my specs to and have them send me something that will work? Is this something a "local" place can reliably do?

Thanks, Scott

I used an adaptor to the three hle flance on the trans, then took the rolling frame to welding shop that makes driveshafts and let them measure and they made me a all new shaft with a slip joint. It was about $400. Or you can get one from the driveshaftshop.com with a CV joint in it for $1000 to $1500, Aluminum, steel or carbon fiber.

Whether you do it like suggested above or choose an alternative approach, the strategy of going to a good driveshaft shop and letting them come up with HOW to resolve your issue would be the right way to go. Those guys see this kind of thing all the time. They know what parts are available and can identify viable options a lot better than we can.

Pick a good shop and go talk to them. You don't have to be the 'problem solver' for everything. Let some experts help you on this one.
