Default Fuel Sending Seal Leaking

Approximately two years ago I replaced the fuel tank and sending unit on my 1971 Coupe. The installation was straightforward, as I have Preformed this task on numerous occasions. A couple of days ago I started to notice the strong odor of gasoline in my garage. Looking under the rear of my 71 I noticed a silver dollar size puddle of gasoline on the floor. Upon my initial observation I noticed the leak was coming from the sending unit. I have subsequently removed the sending unit to find the rubber seal, separating the sending unit from the gas tank was severely deteriorated. I have, in the past replaced a number of sending units on Corvettes, mostly due to an inoperative sending unit but this is the first one that simply needed a seal replacement. Is the gasoline that we are getting now that corrosive and if so where do I need to find a sending unit seal that will stand up to today's gasoline?
