69 window motor replacement
Motor on passenger side finally burnt out and I am coming across conflicting methods of replacing it. Its an early 69 design and the window is all the way up so I have full access.Already have a good replacement motor, but problem is I am seeing three different ways to replace it:
1. Separate entire assembly from window and it all out (youtube video). Then pull motor off regulator.
2. Lower window half way and put bolt through two holes in regulator before unbolting just the motor
3. Just unbolt and swap the motor, window is up so no problems. Just make sure teeth are aligned.
Normally I wouldn't hesitate to just do option 3, but I read this article http://www.corvettemagazine.com/tech...r-replacement/ and it said you could hurt yourself or put a hole in the door if you dont put a bolt through the regulator. Not sure how that would happen, but it gave me pause. Also option one is not that straight forward with an early 69 design and cant imagine that was how the dealerships replaced motors back in the day.
Anyone done option 3? What is the correct method?

I raised the windows to 90% + in the up position before starting, didn't want full up as there would be pressure on the motor. I simply removed the motors, then reinstalled. No bolts used to lock the regulator.
Since the glass was still installed, the regulator spring was still balanced by the weight of the glass. I believe at that time I also moved the glass up and down by hand to lube the tracks.
I'm thinking there was one of the motor attachment bolts that was a bit harder to get at, however not a show stopper.
