Has anyone ever installed a set of these Side Louvers. I'm sure they go in the Side Vent, behind the front tire, into the existing vent, but have never seen them installed. Does anyone have any pictures. I believe that the early model C3's, 60's and early 70's, came with these already molded in to the existing fender, but I was wondering how they looked on the later 70's and early 80's smoother type fender vent!!! Thanks!!! :seeya
If you are talking about the factory option in 69, they will only fit 68s and 69s. From 70 on, there were a mixture of egg crate grills (70-72), an empty vent (73-75?), and other inserts in the late 70s and early 80s cars. They are installed on 68/69 cars in the existing 'gill' openings with screws and well nuts. If you could somehow insert the 68/69 gills in a later vette or go to the 68/69 one piece front end, you could use them. Hope this helps.
I've seen the Louers available in catalogs for years 68-82. They come as a screw in version in chrome or black paintable plastic. Set of 4 per fender. Just wondering if anyones installed these?????
You can still buy them from GM. The only difference between the one's you get today and the originals is that the originals had the inner portions painted argent silver, leaving just a chrome rim around the edge. The one's you get from GM today are all chrome. You can of course paint them to make them match the OEM ones.
These will fit 68 and 69 ONLY as those 2 years had the 4 vertical slit side panels. These were a factory option in 69 only. The option number was TJ2. You have to have the 4 vertical slits in the side panels to put the 4 trim pieces in. They will not fit 70 to 82 cars because those years use different design side panels.
On 68's and 69's, these trim pieces each mount with 2 rubber "T" nuts drilled into each opening. A phillips head machine screw secures the trim piece to the rubber "T" nuts. Hope this helps. Chuck
