I am reasonably sure it will bolt and connect straight in mechanically, its the electrical side that may have a different order in the "harmonica " plug

One thing I am sure is the high beam switch is in the 77 column and has a separate switch wiring plug , the 74 has that switch on the floor so its activated by your foot .

The 69-75 columns are the same. The later C3 columns are different. They can be made to fit but it is not a direct bolt in. As said above the wiring is slightly different due the the high beam being on the column instead of the floor.

Not sure you're referring to the Tilt and Telescopic column in the 77? The 77 Corvette had issues with the dimmer switch pivot on the T&T column. If you are thinking of using the 77 T&T column? You should know many of these parts have broken rendering not only the dimmer to not function. This pivot also controls the turn signals and wiper switch. Add to that the 77 is year specific and currently no pivots are available for replacement. If you do happen to find a replacement pivot with the integrated wiper switch for the 77? It is very expensive. I'm talking hundreds just for the pivot. If you find one!

If I were going to go through all of the trouble to convert my steering column? I would not use a T&T column from a 77. I recently went through the time and trouble of locating an early 78 pivot. I paid $100.00 for that which I had to slightly modify to make it work so I could once again use the turn signals and wipers. Because the early 78 pivot no longer had the wiper switch feature,I had to modify the new pivot and mount the wiper switch to it. However, I was fortunate the electrical switch that controls the wipers wasn't damaged when my pivot broke. I also ended up modifying the wiring and connector for the dimmer switch and mounting it to the floor. Even though the pivot I purchased was new, it's the dimmer function that puts most of the pressure on the pivot. Not wanting to think about tearing the column apart again, I opted to move the dimmer in hopes of making the pivot last longer that it did.

I'd stick with parts that interchange with your year. I's a lot less hassle.

Good Luck in your search!

I`m asking if it will work If the 77 will bolt up to the 74 and my 74 has the wiper on the dash and the dimmer on the floor all I would need to do is wire the turn signals and the ignition from the 77 to the 74. I can see not being able to use a 74 in a 77 because there would be no wiper, dimmer, or cruse control.

My '70 came fitted with a TT from a '77 so I cant see any issues fitting one to a '74. The column dip switch was unused as the floor mounted one was retained. The harmonice wiring connector is the opposite way round on a '77 so you have to adapt here. If your '77 column has the harmonica connector with it this is straightforward to do. FWIW I made the column dip switch the lock-unlock master switch for my 2004r transmission torque converter. As mentioned above be careful some of the parts in the dipswitch are made of unobtanuim.

Thanks. I did a search on the internet and found step by step directions as to installing a 77 to 82 column into a 69 thru 76 corvette as well as the electrical connections. even have the dimmer switch on the column. Next time I hope I pay closer attention before I buy something that I cant return. Thanks for the help.

The '77 column is a one year only column, you might want to find another year column you can use and sell the '77 column to someone who really needs it....
