I am replacing my alternator in the car (diagram showing the bracket configuration on my car attached - its good but not that clear)........should have taken some photos!
I want to make sure all the brackets are replaced/aligned correctly, could anyone please send me photos showing this attached to their car so I may see all the brackets, and how they go bolt together.
The Z brace (first picture in post 2) on my '69 is longer on one end. Putting the long end towards or away from the alternator will give better access to the ps pump cap.
i thought the fastener for the water pump that holds the bracket for the alternator brace was supposed to be one of those double-ended studs, 3/8-16 to secure the water pump to the block, and a short 5/16-18 stud for the "Z" alternator bracket?

Yes, usually it is a stud/nut on the water pump/Z bracket.
