Swapping my 79 3.55 for a 72 4.11. This was found in bottom of my old 3.55. Stinks that the old 3.55 is bad but at least the 4.11 is in great shape and I got it in before the 3.55 quit on me.
Can anyone ID where this came from?
I've only opened my Dana 44, but the shrapnel looks like possibly clutch pack clips. As for the nickel, it is either the Philadelphia, Denver, or San Francisco mint - need a close up to see the mint mark
In my Dana 44 I found broken parts of clutch pack clips and also the tip of an gear oil container which some bozo mechanic must have somehow broken off when refilling it after replacing seals. The gears didn't seem to mind either of these in there.

Great that you caught it in time.
I can't wait to hear some news after the 4:11 swap.
That car of yours is a Demon!
I too had clutch pac tabs in my case with no damage, thank God
Can anyone give me advice on where and how to check for damage? I have someone interested in the 3.55 and I want to me honest as possible about its condition.
