Default Help identifying part.

1981 stock Vette. Found this hanging down from the engine bay. Need help identifying and returning it to its proper location. Suspect it is a temp probe but just guessing from the look. Any help would be appreciated

no modification. Stock exhaust, or at least I am told. I’m thinking possibly a sensor somewhere in the exhaust for computer input.
