Default overheating 454

It was a nice day in Northern VA so I took my 68 convert to go grocery shopping. This was my first drive after doing a rebuild on the rear suspension, so I was listening for any peculiar noises and feeling for any new feedback on steering, cornering, etc. That stuff was fine, but when I got in city traffic the temp gauge went up past its normal reading. It dawned on me I might have disconnected the wire to the electric radiator fan, so when I got home I started checking and found the solderless connection to the relay for my fan had come loose. Finally!!!! a repair that was easy to fix.

Nice. Your repair for the same thing I was having to fix was easier. I had intermittent cooling issues and found out that my relay, a big starter style relay, was turning on at the right temperature (I could hear it click) but something internally wasn’t always making the connection and turning on the fans. So, I got rid of that and installed two 30 amp relays to control the two fans. Now, all is right in the world again!

At at one point I thought I was going to have to replace the water pump. Glad it was simpler than that...oh yeah and I fixed a hot start issue. Loose ground wire!
