My right tail and brake lights are out but my left 2 are just fine. This is the 3rd time within a year my right tail light has gone out I dont know what the heck is wrong... Does anyone have any guesses? It's an 81' btw.

Hi and welcome!
Many times the wires inside the socket corrode.
Attach a wire to a good ground and touch the other end to the brass.
If the lights work you need a new socket.

My issue was with the sockets as well. I took some sand paper and cleaned out the socket real good (sides and center pins) and also roughed up around the bulb and everything started working again. A spray of WD40 also to keep it from happening again.
I had the connector for the ground wire break inside the socket. Different symptoms than yours (intermittent and faint, as the current could find another ground path through the rest of the circuit).
I replaced all 4 sockets in the 68 configuration (all brake/signal, separate backup lights).
