Tick Tick on Tacho
Good Morning Gentlemen,
I have been having this "tick tick tick" noise on my speedometer for the last couple of months. It is a noise from the inside, not from the outside. It is very hard to describe, so I uploaded a short youtube video. On youtube, it sounds louder than it actually is, but it is nevertheless very annoying. Any ideas what this could be? Especially in idle it is really annoying.

I would replace the tach drive cable from the distributor to the tach.
That was the tach shown not the speedometer.
You may need to replace the gear that meshes with the tach shaft, that may have snapped a tooth. Either way if you remove the cable you will probably find it is all gummed up. You can try squirting some oil in the cable jacket and see if it frees it up.
Reaching behind the dash to get to it is a pain. It just screws to the back of the tachometer.
I did this to my 68 years ago and have not had a problem since.
