My car stalls under hard braking but only when the engine is at idle and while the car is moving. If I keep the rpms at 2000 and brake hard left footed in runs fine. If I brake hard while not moving it idles fine without a blip. Car is a 540 big block, power brakes, 5sp manual with transistor ignition. Carb is a Quick Fuel 850.
Ive seen several threads on this and tried several possible solutions. Most of the threads are unresolved.
1. Floats are set perfectly on the sight glass center marks.
2. I installed a slosh tube between the vents and this did nothing. I removed the air cleaner element and could see though the L88 scoop there was no fuel coming out.
3. I jiggled every wire possible while the car was idling. Perhaps a forgot something. Battery cables, bulkhead connector, amplifier connector.
4. Disconnected and plugged the accessory vacuum leaving only the power brake line. I jiggled this hose with the pedal down with no effect.
You say your floats are set perfectly on the sight glass centerline. That tells me your floats are set too high. They should be set so a little bit of fuel just dribbles out of the sight hole when the engine is idling and on level ground. Try turning the float level down to the bottom of the sight glass and see if that solves your problem. Good luck.

The Quick Fuel carbs have clear plastic sight windows that do not come out like a Holley and they
are marked for the correct level. But they are easy enough to adjust so I’ll give it a try.
