Was trying to get some tips on the best way to fix the relay mount on the drivers side wheel well. The first picture below is a pic under the hood and as you can see, the bolt that the relay mounts to has been sheared off.
This happened before I bought the car and I am trying to think of the easiest way to correct this. The arrows point to "rivets" that must reinforce the fiberglass for this piece. My 69 Factory Assembly Manual identifies this as a
3918535 Bracket, along with 3828548 Rivets.
From the wheel well, this is what this looks like - I have outlined the bracket in red:
So I know I'll need to replace the bracket since the nut is part of the bracket, how difficult is this? Is there a good way to remove the rivets without damaging the fiberglass? Any tools that would make this easier?
To remove a rivet just drill the head off of it (first picture). If you know the diameter of the rivet shank you can start with the right diameter drill bit. If you don't know the diameter of those rivets start with a small drill bit and keep moving up in size until the rivet head comes off. Be sure the center punch the rivet before starting to ensure you just drill the rivet and not damage the hole.

Thanks - I'll assume the bracket is reproduced, I guess I'll have to fabricate it if it's not. I've never set one of these fiberglass rivets, so I guess there's a first time for everything..
