Does anybody know of a header that will clear the z bar? I would like to stay with my 4 speed for now to keep the weight down. I would prefer 1 7/8 if it is an option.

Thx
do you have a way to attach the zbar to the LS? It probably wont have the mounting like the sbc does from the factory.
Good luck on that, I tried to get dimensional info or a photo from those guys, but they said unless they had a car with the body off they couldn't help. I think they took a car with a hydraulic throwout installed to create their original headers.
Kacy: I don't know what's available now but I bought an adapter that puts the z-bar in the stock place. I did have to break some welds and move the inner arm over to clear my exhaust.
I'll be watching this thread but what I've learned is that the stock manifolds flow quite well. I believe I've seen some tests done at one of the magazine sites.
I couldn't find any either , so I built My own. Pain in the *** , and cost me a pile. But they fit perfect and are exactly what I wanted.
Got an install photo with the z-bar in place? I'd thought perhaps a strategic dimple in place might suffice and I think there are ARH photos that might approximately match yours for comparison purposes.
So the z -bar goes in front of that dog leg on #7? I'll dig around for the ARH stuff when I get some time - thanks and nice fab work, not something I have the skill set for.

Found it, looks like you made lots of room where I'm guessing the-bar goes.
Ignatz ,. did you try to move the z-bar back ? One guy told me he did just that , I never thought of it. If I did , I
could of used the LS6 manifolds and saved around $800 building these hedders.

At the time I did my conversion, it looked like a pretty good aftermarket was developing, so I didn't give alternatives any thought at all. Header's will come along I thought.
And also, better is the enemy of good enough. Sometimes you just gotta go with what you've got. So z-bar and mechanical linkage rather than hydraulic, stick with the Muncie ... good enough for 40 years and recently upgraded.

Agreed on the 4 speed. I have a T56 Magnum in my 67 Camaro and I prefer the feedback and feel of the mechanical over it. If I did a lot of highway driving. I would consider the 6 speed, but the weight savings is a bonus with the 4 speed.
