78 auto to manual swap - s-10 donor?
I've been wanting do the swap for some time now. I just got a quote from silver sport for just over 5k.
My dad jokingly said to use the junk 99 s-10 i have sitting out back (4.3 5 speed) This got me wondering if its possible to use parts off of it to do the swap. I know the transmission probably won't hold up but what about using the hydraulics, bell housing, pedals etc?
Any input would be appreciated.

In that other thread of yours on same subject, you said your friend (not dad) suggested the S-10 trans.

it is called a T5. the S10 has the wrong tailshaft housing and gear ratios. mainly first. you want the 88-92 Camaro version of that trans. or if using the S10 bell housing you need a Mustang v8 trans. it is doable. the shifter is too far forward with the current S10 trans, it has an electric speedo and you will be shifting into second in 1 car length. here is a chart of trans tags and gear ratios. if seriously considering this, first strip and junk the S10. then start looking into what that trans tag says and what trans fits that bell housing. also you need clutch-brake pedals too. http://www.britishv8.org/articles/bo...t5-id-tags.htm
