I have a 1969 small block car with a M20 and it has the incorrect curved style shifter stick installed....... the problem is it's the welded version. Soooo..... what's my best route to install the correct style straight stick? Also, the key release never worked properly and i'm wondering if I have the wrong linkage levers and rods as well??? Are any of these parts useable??? Thank you in advance!
- shifter is a 2083 body with the straight levers, no dog leg reverse lever
- rods are 4646, 4647, 2137
- reverse lever is 7061
- 1/2 and 3/4 levers are 7058, 7060
- mounting bracket 6939

IIRC, the key release was a cable that went from the column lever to the reverse shift arm on the trans. Had to be in reverse to get the key to turn to the "lock" position. (mine's been gone so long I really had to think!) The backup light switch also went to that same lever on the trans.
As far as getting the correct straight stick, I'm thinking that you may need to replace the shifter unless Hurst makes individual parts. I don't recall seeing one that was welded in as yours appears to be.
