Default Need help with two issues

First I used a gas can to put a gallon of gas in the car to get it to the gas station. I spilled a little gas around the filler so I poured a little water in there to flush it out and then dried the area with a cloth. This should have nothing to do with the problem but I added it fyi. When I got in the car the gas gage was pegged to the right past the full mark. I did some research here and it appears the ohm wire is the issue. I read the Willcox diagnostic thread for this info and it says accessing the sending unit to test the wires is easy. Well it did not tell how to access the sending unit. Can someone tell me how to access the sending unit so I can test the wire? I assumed the sending unit would be on top of the tank which would involve removing the spare and then removing the tank which I don't want to do.

Next my fasten seatbelt light stays on. It was that way when I bought the car. The buzzer will stop buzzing when the belt is fastened but the light stays on. Any ideas? My car is a 75 convertible.

I'm not too familiar with 75's, but on my 69, the fuel sender connection is on the bottom of the tank (and should be accessible without removing the spare tire). Mine had a bad/intermittent connection when I bought it, so I had to do some tinkering with it. If it's on the top of the tank like the 79, you should be able to access it by simply removing the rubber seal around the fill nozzle (I forget if the gas door has to be removed first).

The seatbelt light circuit is different on the 75 vs 69, so you might want to find a wiring diagram to see how the light is wired in?

Thank you I went out and took a look and found that the sending unit is accessible from the top which I would have never imagined. What happened when I was as stated in my original post wiping the area out under there I inadvertently unplugged the ohm wire. I plugged it back in and everything is fine. Also thanks to Wilcox for the information I found during my initial search. Now if I could get that seat belt light to go out all would be right with the world.

It might be the switch under the seat is out of adjustment.
That switch is ON when someone is in the seat.

The next switch is in the receiver next to the console.
That switch is OFF when you buckle up.

If that is not the problem then you have to dig to these parts.

Okay I had the seat out When redoing the interior and there is no switch underneath. A previous owner must have removed it and that's why the light is staying on. Thanks for that information.

If you decide to look further into the 'fix' there are 6 pages starting on page 12-70 in the GM service manual.
It goes into detail on testing both the buzzer and the relay.
