Does anyone have cold air induction using the vette cowl induction hood? Where didja get the stuff to do it with? Did you have to sell your wife or your first-born to do it? If you sold your wife to do this mod, who took her and do ya think they'll take mine in trade too?

Ecklers has all the parts, but you will have to align and bond the fresh air chamber to the underside of the hood. They do work. for every 7.5 degrees you reduce the air temperature entering the engine, you gain 1% horse power. Without the fresh air, the under-hood temps on a summer's day can hit 200+ degrees. A 100 degree difference can be 12-13%.
Buy an outside thermometer and stick the remote sensor next to your air cleaner to see from the cool comfort of your drivers seat what is baking underneath your hood as you trundle along. You might find more power from other investments than spending $600 to $1000 for a real fresh air hood, but it is a good proven choice. The more powerful the engine, the more important the fresh air becomes. 13% equals about 70hp for my L88. Even more important, it reduces the tendency to knock or ping on less than optimum gas.

I hate heat in the engine compartment. Whenever I get home from a summer ride, I always raise the hood the get air circulating before i go inside. I just can't stand the thought of all those components baking with the hood closed. I've got the cowl hood and assumed the partitions were in place. The lower piece is there. I'll check when I get home.

In my Pro Street Camaro, I picked up 3 tenth's in my sixty foot. Yes that is right 3 thenth's by putting a functional cowl hood on the car.

yellow 72,
I think I may have to take a trip to Cinci next spring/summer to meet you and view your car. I didn't realize you were that close or I would have been out there this summer. I'm only about 4 hours away on the west side of Indiana. I've admired your vette for over a year now.
Is there any worry of sucking water down into the cowl if you're caught out in the rain? I try to avoid driving the vette in the rain anyway, but sometimes I get stuck out in it.
Tom73 - My car is far from the way it was when it left the factory. I do have the factory cowl hood and want to seal the carb to the hood. I think I need just the base and rubber gasket. My 14"X3" K&N and present air cleaner lid should fit. Am I right or am I missing something?

The factory assembly consisted of the base, a flange (that the seal fastened to), and the rubber seal. I would watch ebay for the base and flange. A rubber seal is available from most Vette vendors but it is usualy the Camaro seal which is slightly too large for the Vette. Dr Rebuid did carry the correct seal but I understand that he is sold out of those now. I picked up mine from a vendor at Bloomington and if I can find that name I will post it.
