I am familiar Mike's solution. At this point I'm betting the 400 gross max target with an automatic will survive. If not, I have brand new set of Tom's 5 cut 3.54's sitting at home to go into an Eaton.

I can tell you that my hood, while not attached, will not sit on the GM crate on my 81 with the stock air cleaner. I haven't gotten far enough along yet to figure out what cleaner I'll end up going with.
I like the look of the dual snorkel unit. I am kinda curious if i can cut apart and re-assemble the base to fit the Holley double pumper while dropping the unit to allow hood clearance. The car is too far from being on the road for me to do much pondering on that yet.

All joking aside I hope you find a hood, there are a lot of pics online with different snorkels, but finding one from that era might be tough.. got to be one around... good luck!
