Hello, i just got a 68 from 31 years in a garage. The car looks to be an early 1968 car as it has no interior door handle and the side view mirror is very close the front of the door. The interior was in bad shape and this was the first area to be addressed.
I would like to know what would be the best option to install a shoulder belt setup. I just purchased A4 seats as the old seats were shot. Thanks!
You'll see people (myself included) use f-body 3 point rear belts but your 68 probably has the shoulder retracts mounted on the side of the rear wheel well rather than the top, actually your 68 might not have had the shoulder belts so maybe check that the mounting point is there first
I've also seen at least somewhere that someone used a piece of angle bracket to change the mounting from the side to the top and then went to the f-body style belts, i'll see if I can find that

I have an early oct 67 build, THe holes are there, they would have a plastic plug in them and they are in the side under the rear carpet. I bought some replacement 3 piece shoulder belts that the sounder bit can disconnect from the waist belt. They were specifically vertical mount for the 68 year. I had to disassemble them and flip the belt because the twist didn't work going over the seat. I originally had the 69 style holders and bolted them to the side of the '02 seats I was using. When I ugraded to '04 sport seats I just ran them though the gap in the headrest. Hope that helps.
