You can see that I had to give it some hammer to accomodatte the steeroids kit... groovyjay
I was hoping to find a Big Block sidepipe header that can be installed with steeroids and doesn't require hammering, or welding... Is this unrealistic?
flynhi, here is a shot of our test car. The headers look to be nearly identical to the Blackjack/DynoMax headers. As you can see, the support bearing does get close to the #5 tube.

To be honest ricketyray, I don't know if it's unrealistic or not. I know we have a fair amount of systems on cars with big blocks but we don't get a lot of feedback from customers. So we don't know what type of exhaust systems they are running (stock, headers, sidepipe, etc.) I think for the most part only slight massaging is needed and that's why we haven't heard from customers. Flattening the tube slightly won't hurt performance and it can be done on coated headers without damaging the coating. The procedure involves heating the tube with a propane torch , wraping a socket in a towel or cloth, laying the socket (on it's side) onto the tube and hitting the socket with a hammer.
We can certainly compare dimensions to see what we can figure out. The picture in my previous post is a good starting point. If you can get a similar picture of your headers we can start from there. Or I can get a few critical dimensions.
Can anyone get a picture of big block Hooker side pipes similar to the one I've posted?
OK Eric,
This is looking better. Do you happen to have a shot from below? That would allow me to compare #1 tube alignments and interference.
Thanks,Will

I appreciate the info. My preference is for Sidepipes ...but I may go with rear exit if provides for a cleaner install ...may even look into custom work. All ideas/updates are appreciated.
To add a few more things, here is a pic with dimensions of the support bearing and lower u-joint. I apologize for the etch-a-sketch dimension lines, I kind of threw it together. The 3 inch dimension measures the lower u-joint.
Another note, Steeroids clears Vette Brakes front transverse spring without problems.
