Default Power steering pump

Hello

i will be replacing my power steering pump this weekend and hoped I would get some advicce

when I pulled to old one out it was filled with ATF fluid the red color type

should I stick with ATF as GM warns against using it and to use acdelco power steering fluid

if I Chang the fluid to ps would I have to flush the system?

Thanks

mike

I would just buy a brand name PS fluid and drain as much as possible of the old by disconnecting the hoses and pushing the wheels back and forth.

Thanks for the advice

I disconnected and removed old pump.

Key rolled and opened up keyway on shaft and destroyed the pulley

So I bought a reman pump (not and exact fit)
New pulley 100.00 owch
Belt

Turned wheels stop to stop 20 times with car jacked up and engine off
Turned wheels 10 times with car jacked up and motor running

topped off level

Went for a spin around the block

Feels great easy to turn not overpowered

Thanks for all the advice

Mike
