I did a search and found many different threads in regards to brake issues and lots of possible solutions but I didn’t find anything quite like what I’m experiencing.
During my my last few cruises I started noticing the smell of hot brakes coming from the rear of the car. I tore into it this afternoon and everything on the drivers rear seamed to check out okay. I went over to the passenger side rear, pulled the pads and cleaned everything up. When I went to put the pads back in a I noticed the caliper pistons were completely extended. I tried compressing them to get the pads back in and was nearly impossible. As soon as I let pressure off of the caliper pistons they extend again.
Im at a loss. 1975 L48 with power brakes disk al around.
My experience is that the rubber hose on that side has deteriorated inside, is plugged, and will not allow the pressure to release. Not an uncommon happening on these.

I thought about that however, with the master cylinder cap off I witnessed the fluid level quickly rising. If the hose was plugged wouldn’t it just ballon the line?
So., I bled all four corners and the pad issue seems to have corrected itself, what I did find was that the parking brake shoes on the drivers side are dragging. Temp readings post drive are around 380° while the another three are around 88°. I guess my next step will be to try and back off the pads with the adjustment wheel. I have never done this however, I do know that the adjustment in on the bottom of the assembly somewhere.
