I just got off the phone with AFR talking to them about this problem and their reply is that the oil pump is the problem
I run a high volume oil pump, not a high-pressure oil pump.
and he says with the high volume oil pump’s, they are putting too much oil in to the head and therefore it’s getting on top of the seals and then going down
I have high volume pumps on both of my solid roller motors.
After market blocks and stock blocks with oil restrictors limit top end oiling and they work fine with every head I have ever used except for AFR. AFR never addressed their know oil return problems. I machined my AFR heads on the exhaust side of the springs into the valve cover wall and deeper than the valve spring pocket to channel oil away from the spring base and valve stem seals
I machined out the oil return holes larger and removed the drain ridge that impedes oil return
I got in trouble 15 years ago about bad mouthing AFR and their design flaws. I only wished that they would have fixed these items by now
