The Edelbrock carb will make your car run as smooth, powerful, and reliably as your aunt Edna's Caprice station wagon, which is not a bad choice for some people.

Mike has decided to put in a little work and effort to bring his '68 back to it's "correct" configuration, appearance, and level of performance by shopping for an original '68 L79 intake manifold and finding a rebuildable 4MV (divorced choke) Q-Jet. I'll be helping him to get it all rebuilt and configured back to its correct state of performance, which should make his car a lot of fun to drive (and to pop the hood to show it all off). Let's wish him success in his shopping quest for some good parts!

BTW: If anyone has a non-molested (not commercially rebuilt), rebuildable '68 or '69 Chevy passenger car Q-Jet without excessive rust and damage, let me or Mike know. E-mail me if you have something that we might be able to use to get Mike on the road to recovery:

Default Updates

Hello Everyone

Thought I'd share some updates so far.

Purchased the 68 intake, it arrived this weekend looks good.

Car came with a choke cable installed but disconnected. (I have owned this car for 3 months, I saw the cable under the dash but did not put 2 and 2 together until discussing with Lars.)

I reconnected the manual choke,When engine is cold, I can pull choke cable towards me, pump the gas pedal 3 times and she starts right up.
(not ideal but better)

Also noticed the secondaries were not kicking in.

I attributed this to the poor rebuild and missing linkages on current unit.

Well while setting idle speed I noticed a lot of slack in the throttle cable.

Backed the cable out to remove slack.

re-adjusted idle speed

Secondaries now work!

Still determined to install intake and find a core for Lars to rebuild.

Thanks for all of the ideas and advice!

Mike
