My new 460# front springs have a chamfered edge and a straight edge end. It is my understanding that the chamfered edge goes in the lower control arm while the straight cut edge goes in the
frame spring well. Is this correct?
Chamfered edge end - goes to the lower control arm?
The straight edge goes into the frame spring well?
In case anyone is interested in this, I messaged Van Steel on this question. Their reply is that it really did not matter, although by convention they insert the squared end
in the frame spring well and the chamfered end in the lower control arm. Their advice was to key the spring into the spring well first and then insert into the lower control arm.
Make sure you index the spring in the top pocket correctly. Leave about 3/8" from the hole to the edge of the spring. I drop a bolt into the hole and have the spring just touch the bolt. When the setup is complete, pull the bolt out. I put a piece of blue tape on the spring edge as a visual guide. Jerry

Love the blue tape idea - should really make the edge of the new spring stand out - thanks!
