AFR 180 Heads
Looking to put Weiand team G 7530 intake on my New Dart SHP 400. I have AFR 180 heads and the intake and head port sizes are a little different size . Just wondering how will this affect the performance?
intake port size 2.10 h 1.24 w and Afr is 2.050 h and 1.250 w.
Current hp is 510 and torque 548 with 2101 rpm intake.

I would imagine there will be some loss of potential horsepower due to turbulence, but without lab equipment to measure it.....I doubt you would even notice.
On my 406 the AFR 195 heads were larger than the Vic Jr ports by a small margin, so I blended the intake to the port as far in as I could with a file by hand. I also made bushings to index the intake as precisely as I could to the head port using the intake bolts to position the intake on the head.
One of these days I'll get around to installing the AFR 210 Eliminators I have had sitting on my bench for three years...…….

Although you definitely lose a bit of power with the missmatch, plenty of engines out there run every day in this configuration. If you want to max out the potential power, match the ports. It is not that hard, just some time on the bench and it is next to free if you do it yourself.

I always thought there’d be a lose but the guys on Speedtalk say there isn’t. It’s probably more important to make sure the intake is properly aligned.

BTW isn't 500hp enough on the street. 3300lb car? I think you should have wheel spin problems to worry about more than increasing hp.
Congrats on the new motor. You should be happy with that 400 cubes for a long time.

Thank you Sir for your reply. I put a lot of planing in to the build so it will last a long time and I put all the best parts inside.
6.125 rods
3.75 crank
billet pistons
howard cam roller
ATI super damper

Update , I've installed the new Team G intake and the car runs very well with the single plain . With the Holley sniper EFI the car likes the single plain way better and idle quality is better and throttle response is just crazy. Thanks for all the response.

Good job......an EFI system should never be used on a dual plane intake......the benefits of a dual plane are for carb signal ONLY.
When installing an EFI on a dual plane it just becomes a turbulant cork......
I run the 7530 myself and there is no better intake for the height IMHO......works awesome on big cube small block....

^^^ Love the Team G, found an older one and ported it end to end. Good torque plenty of top end.
Have a strip dominator and Dornton new in the closet just cant bring myself to change something that works so good.
IMO intake size is overrated, need less than most think. Could be wrong.
