Hello, I have a 1982 CE. Stock. It is running very poorly. not much speed. i drove for 6 hours and had terrible fuel economy. It chugs along like half the cylinders are firing. I thought it was the catalytic converter but now I am not convinced. I thought I'd change out the plugs and rule those out. while I was starting to change plugs I noticed a sensor on the right rear of the block above the rear two plugs and it has 2 terminals but one was not on. What sensor is this? Where else should I be looking for problems on this crossfire injected engine? While driving on the recent trip i changed the cap and rotor thinking they could have been the problem. No change. Thanks for a starting point and thanks for letting me know if that sensor could be giving me the symptoms I am having. I did adjust the TV cable twice on the trip and it did not help.
EDIT: also, while driving, as I try to accelerator, the problem is exacerbated. It just "chugs" louder and harder. feels and sounds like a locomotive. chug-chug-chug

there are two sensors on the passenger side of the motor.the one by the spark plugs is the sensor for you electric fan. the lower one is a knock sensor.i would check the plugs. if they are black ,they are burning rich.i would look at the coolant sensor at the front of the motor by the water pump.If all is good there I would take a look at the throttle postion switch..
ya. i'm worried about that now since the O2 sensor could've been bad for some time making the cat plug up. The car has I think 150k off the top of my head.
Code 12 is <No Distributor Reference> Code 13 is <O2 Sensor or Circuit>
I would suggest that you get the FACTORY service manual for 1982. It has everything you'll need to keep that crossfire going. Don't waste your time with the chilton's or Haynes.

It's also possible the sensor was disconnected to mask or "remedy" the old cat fault.
thanks gentlemen, I'll look for the proper book. I think I already have the other two. Not sure if I have the factory one. I am currently away from home (next state). I appreciate the help. Changing the O2 sensor it runs a little better, but now i really notice the cutting-in and cutting-out of all the cylinders firing. I wonder if the TPS could be making it run erratic also. I'll pull codes again tomorrow
