Default '69 Big Block Ground Strap/Cable

I just installed the rebuilt engine and can't figure out where the ground strap/cable should be mounted. I don't see it and am thinking it must not have been there when I pulled the engine. Technically the engine is grounded as the exhaust pipe is clamped to the chassis but this is a weak ground I would think. The new engine turned over great and fired right up last night so the starter and coil are obviously getting a ground. Plus, I tested with an ohm meter and have right at 0.7 ohms. Even so, I'm thinking I should have a strap but not sure of the best place to mount it. Research doesn't reveal much. Thanks!

Factory default is on the right side of the block (starter bracket) to the frame (s. pic).

Perfect, thank you GP. I found just the place to install mine. The guy I bought car from never had one so all of the current was passing through other, undesirable grounds.

Sounds like one of Bubba's relatives.

Yeah, his mechanical techniques aren't well grounded! Ground cable is now in and all is well on that front.

I've seen them ground thru the shift cable-- welded it solid.

That sort of thing definitely weighed on my mind. I put about 1500 miles on after purchasing the car with no ground cable.
