I know there are several threads on the vacuum headlights that we are blessed to have in our C3's but I haven't seen one on a systematic way to troubleshoot my issue.
I have a 1979 with a ZZ4 engine. I've had the car for 12 years and when I first got it, the headlights would raise, first the left, then very slowly, the right. I had to park the car for three years and when I started driving it again, the headlights won't come up at all when I pull the headlight switch but will stay up if I manually pull them up. They will go down equally and rapidly when I push the headlight switch in.
I don't want to just exchange parts in hopes I get it right, I would like to know if there is a systematic way to find the culprit. Do I need to rebuild both actuators? Is there are relay i need to check out?
Of course I'll be glad to use the great wealth of knowledge on this forum and listen is somebody say, "Raven, I had the same problem and this was the fix".
