I'm getting between 42 degrees and 46 degrees from all the vents with the Vintage Air.

I slid some Lowes boiler insulation between the unit and firewall it helped .
I put a manual shut off valve in my 79, and it helped a lot.

I'd be more than glad to pay for a V/A or other aftermarket AC to replace my current system but nobody seems to have a complete kit to fit the 1977-1982 Corvettes.

Here's hoping somebody 'proves me wrong' by posting a company that doews make a system to work on the cars I mentioned.

My friend did his 76 with Vintage Air, his controls look like the picture.

He said the key was using Vacuum Cleaner hoses from a shop vac which fit behind the console. He is no longer with us or I would ask him for the details.

I too am getting ready to tackle my A/C system repair on my '73 C3 soon...

I'm not getting much flow through the HVAC plenum once it exits the evaporator. (Seems to be OK to that point)
Hoping one of the blend doors is stuck closed or inactive for what ever reason... but it apppears to be
a difficult repair at best.

Is there a good diagram for the under dash system that anyone has found?

Also, do I understand correctly? Use an C4 blower wheel on the C3 blower motor with a 3/8" spacer to improve
air flow by 35% to the evap? Is the spacer available for purchase or a fabricate as needed item?

I'd also like to get away from the stock compressor and use something later model but am concerned about
fitment and line up issues with existing belts/pullies...

Also, I despise those rotary HVAC controls but not sure what other options are available.

Any comments or tips would be appreciated.

Thx mardyn

No one makes the spacer that I know of, You will need to make one yourself 3/8 or 1/2 inch .. .. there are threads on this , do a search . I did mine about 9 yrs ago . Its nice and cool in my car.. and its black

See here.... I read about it before but a 1" plastic cutting board is and easy thing to cut up and make a spacer from.... I do not have any experience with this since I have Hot Rod Air, but I ran into this article when reviewing A/C system issues.

We’ve adjusted the Freon level different ways. Pressures are usually 270/20 or so... sometimes higher at idle.

im wondering if the temp blend doors are doing some thing weird. Probably gonna take the car down to Vintage Air themselves and let them figure it out.
Those pressures are too low for 134a. Your compressor will not stay running @20 needs more like 35.

Vintage Air kits specify 15 psi on the low side... its weird...but true. I've had these same pressures in my 71' for 10 years, never added Freon. Still blows 39*...

That is weird. Never come across that low of low side pressure. Of course I haven't had any experience with Vintage air either. Good info
