74 Horn Troubleshoot
Inspection time and horn not working. Tested horn with jumpers it's good. Relay is bad, I'll pick one up tomorrow. Appears I also have a ground issue. Took the horn off and cleaned mounting strap and bolt. Question is how is the horn grounded? Yes the mount is bolted into metal, but how do I know that metal is actually grounded. On a non fiberglass bodied car, entire frame is ultimately grounded via a ground strap from the battery. Probably a simple question fellas, just getting started with these C3's. Thanks.

The electrical ground path goes right thru the steering column. If you have replaced or modified the original ragjoint (flex coupling to the steering box), the new flex disc may not have any metal in it to pass current. Some GM cars ran a braided ground strap from one side of the ragjoint to the other so the horn could be grounded. The relay is a likely cause. But so is a non-conductive ragjoint.
