Speedometer Cable and Parts
Hi All,
Strange problem, the speedometer gauge just stopped working. The speed indicator needle nor the milage dials are working. Does anyone have pics on how this is configured and what would cause this to stop working?

Nothing strange about that. The cable was lubricated over 40 yrs ago and no one has done so since.
At the end of the cable that goes into the tranny is a square chunk of plastic that locks into the driven gear. That's usually what snaps.
Go to your favorite Vette vendor and order new cable. Besides what Yr you have, they will want to know if its:
Upper cable
Lower cable
w/ cruise control
w/o cruise control
Sometimes total length.

I thought there was something funny. I looked in the manuals and this part was not listed. Very few companies sell it. I've seen a few for the distributer but hardly any for the trans. This explains it.
