You can review our expertise on columns by viewing our tech pages (even some of our pictures were used by Jim Shea in his papers). by going to this link http://repairs.willcoxcorvette.com/?...teering+column

Here are pictures of the steering column after we converted it.
Now granted, we did a color change to 1972 red on this entire interior... so while the color isn't 1976 the car is. We had custom seat covers, door panels, dash pads and carpet as well as other items custom made so the customer would get the color he wanted. We did everything from the gauges, the column, the seat cover installation and so on to this car to make it what the customer wanted. I will also say that we did advised the customer to just go with the stock stuff.... but he didn't like the 1976 red and this was what he wanted... The complete interior turned out awesome.
So... making your vega wheel go away can be done.... without going to the earlier style steering column and to be honest, even though the conversion kit cost a pretty penny, it'll still be cheaper then going with the earlier column...
