I'd PB Blaster the studs and lock plier them out if I had to. You can then get a new set of T-handles if you like. Lock Tite the studs into them. You only need
hand tight to fasten down the valve covers.
Went to take studs out with 2 nuts method and noticed they are screw in studs. On top of that they were all loose. Will liquid cement the t handles to the studs now. T handles were still all tight in holding rocker cover down though.
A PO of my 79 did the same thing. If you want to reinvent them, Allen key socket head cap screws and washers of the correct length (from McMaster, for example) would be a handy upgrade.
The PO also added taller valve covers (to a stock L48), which required me to take off the valve cover to change the alternator belt. Good thing there were quick T-handles!
