This year I started hearing what sounds like bearing noise when the Spal fan runs. It hardly ever runs, but with all the recent heat waves..it's been running more than ever. It's maybe five or six years old, but being my toy.....it really has not been used a lot.
Is there a lube/oil used for this, or are the bearings sealed with no way to lube them. I honestly haven't had the time to even look at it closely.
Here is there customer service info: Post back what you find out.

Before buying a new one, I would pull it out--you'd have to do this anyway if you bought a new one-- and mess with it. Could be some crud or ???
Should be easy to detect bearing problems once you get a good look at it.
Got a reply from SPAL today. Bearings are sealed and can't be relubed.
Advised to replace the whole fan...…..
Maybe you could just replace the bearing ? Take a look at it like Sayfoo said and maybe you can see if it can come apart to replace the bearing or maybe just replace the motor if it is the motor bearing.

Replace the squealing fan with another one just like it.... Hmmm...
I would remove it and attempt disassembly. Replace bearing or bushing if possible with something that will last. Replace the fan if you can't fix it.
nothing lost other than your efforts. Sealed bearings are not really “sealed” you can take the seal off with a pick and repack the bearing if it’s not damaged yet, then put the seal back on. I’ve done it many times works good.

Agree, have done it many times with successful results, it’s definitely worth a try.
