Default Troubleshooting Vacuum Leak

I have a slight vacuum leak which I think I have the culprit. It is the hose that runs from the plastic filter to the metal check valve, or so the vacuum diagram I have says. The problem is, I cannot see where this hose is going because it runs under the washer pump cluster. For the life of me, I cannot see where it goes to after that. So my first question is:

1. Is it possible to remove the washer pump cluster off the firewall a bit so I can see where these hoses are routed to? In the photo below, I was thinking maybe if I removed the 2 bolts in the red circles the washer pump cluster could be moved forward enough to gain a view? Anyone have experience doing this? It's a tight spot to be sure!

2. My second question is proper vacuum hose routing. Does anyone have a pic showing how the vacuum hoses should be routed near the firewall?

The red circles are 2 of the 3 bolts that hold the washer pump to the firewall. In that area (on my 69), the only vacuum line thru the firewall is a 1/8 diameter line that is the source for the heater control.

So it is possible to remove the bolts and gain some access to that area by moving the washer pump forward?

Thanks guys - (my car is a 1969) much appreciated. In the vacuum hose diagrams, I see the metal check valve (H in the diagram above) that is connected to the vacuum filter (G above). Is this component (metal check valve) visible under the hood? I cannot seem to locate this - I would not be surprised if the previous owner had it removed in a Bubba fix. If it is visible under the hood, can I see a pic of it? I'll probably have to remove the washer pump bolts so I can see what exactly this guy did.

My 69 check valve is visible just to the drivers side of the wiper motor ,most of the vacuum lines and wires run along the same area under the wiper motor and just above the back the master cylinder .I would find your manifold vacuum port and follow the vacuum hoses, should be manifold to short hose then white plastic filter to short hose then alloy check valve two hoses one to tank and other to headlight switch .Hope this helps

Thanks-that does help. I think the previous owners did some Bubba fixes on my car!
