it seam the my steering wheel shaft is out by 1/4 turn . signal were not cancelling at at all i replaced spring in assembly,
it works now but now right turns cancel very quickly during turning left you have to very over correct to cancel.
witch leads me to think the shaft is out 1/4 turn the steering is straight when i drive
The very top of the shaft was notched with a chisel during assembly , this mark should be at 12 o'clock position and should mate with the hub mark (assembled unit was belted with chisel )
Check it out but after thinking about it , it might just be way out on your tie-rods , they are the final alignment if everything else checks out.

it looks like the rag joint has been changed
Had the same problem with my '73 when I first got it. Turns out that nearly everything that could be wrong with my steering was wrong. Someone had taken the steering column apart and put it back together with the lower shaft 180 degrees out. The chisel mark bazza77 mentioned was not lined up. The rag joint had not been installed properly. Turn signals didn't cancel. Steering wheel was mounted wrong. And I forget what other issues I had.
I finally sorted it all out after downloading all of Jim Shea's steering column papers for my year model. Those papers were a tremendous help. Here's a link to get you started: http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/
After I went through his papers and corrected all of the issues, my turn signals were working just like yours and my steering wheel was not centered. The last thing I did was center the steering wheel by adjusting the tie rod ends. I marked the ends and counted the number of turns to make each the same so I wouldn't have to get another alignment. After that, the turn signals canceled the same for both left and right turns. Finally!
