Speaking of bottom hoses.... parts guy at NAPA was telling me hose companies are doing away with springs in lower hoses. Says its causes corrosion compatibility issues. I tried not to laugh. But they didn't have any with springs. I googled and couldn't find anything about it. B.S.?

Parts guys are usually wrong. I wouldn't run my bottom hose without the spring. If I couldn't find a hose that came with a spring I'd use the one out of the old hose.

You can buy "non-collapsing", corrugate hoses which do not require the internal support spring. But, they don't make such a hose the "looks" like an OEM part. If the spring is in the hose you remove, swap it over to the new hose. Or, you could make your own 'support spring' by winding some stainless steel wire to the correct diameter.
Some time ago, I cut the lower hose angle fitting off my replacement aluminum rad, and fit on a short elbow hose, into a 1.5 inch brass plumbing coupling like for sinks/etc.....and then into one of them spring looking hoses with reinforcement inside to the pump.....been there for years now.....
