The back of my passenger seat pops and slouches back when someone sits in it. i think the hinge needs replaced. how big of a PITA is this? would it be easier to remove the seat from the car?
thanks in advance.
Mine was doing that and all I had to do was to tighten the screws on the hinges. The screws have a shoulder on them and had loosened up over time.
When I would sit in the seat the shoulder of the screw would pop out of place and the seat back would lean back. Tightend the screws with a stubby phillips screw driver and it has been fine every since.
That was exactly what my driver seat was doing. When I tore things apart last winter, I found that the seat bottom was cracked next to the hinge. I tried fiberglassing the area, but it did not hold up over the summer. I plan on taking things apart once again this winter. The have tried sourcing new seat bottoms, but the cost has been keeping me from buying them. The catalogs list the item anywhere from $180 to $220 for the reproduction bottoms. I hope you have better news than I did.
