Default Passenger door jam issue

Not sure of the technical name for this piece (against the seat) but it never stays in place - not sure the purpose of the screws as said piece can just slidoff the lip/rail.

Can someone tell me if I can fix this or if I am missing something? Every bump I go over it rattles off

The body-colored metal strip has three screws that thread into inserts in the plastic part.
You tighten those fasteners to "sandwich" the body flange between them at those 3 slots.
Sometimes (often) the threaded inserts in the plastic part break loose and don't hold torque.
There's a repair kit you can order that comes with new inserts and screws, and you epoxy the inserts into the plastic panel.
That should get you a decent attachment, but it's all dependent on how well you glue those inserts in.
If there's not enough of the parent plastic around the insert areas to adhere to, you may be looking at new 1/4 inners.
Be thankful you've got a Vert, as they are smaller (and less $$$) than the Coupe version.

Good luck.

I've never had that problem on my '71, but you might try using some double sided tape on the plastic trim piece to secure it in place before attaching the metal strip. Just a thought.

There is a screw on that piece where the shoulder belt retractor is that should hold it in,
