Default How to assemble a '77 Corvette

1. Assemble the mounting and adjustment brackets to the power steering pump and hang from the ceiling by a rope
2. Assemble the rest of the car around them

Just like a heater core. Put the core on a box, then assemble the rest of the dash, then the rest of the car around it.

Easier than changing a radio in a 79. Pull the engine disassemble the firewall. In do the ***** and mounting nuts cut big hole in firewall unplug wires remove radio reverse procedure . And you want to assemble an entire car?

Interesting. I was always taught the correct order was:

1. Remove fasteners from hood ornament and attach to hoist.

2. Raise hood ornament and drive new car underneath.

3. Lower hood ornament and reinstall fasteners.

No, just jack up the radiator cap an drive the new car underneath. No sense doing unnecessary steps.

I almost did that. Old accord kept emptying cooling system. Almost put an engine in it. Then i realized rubber gasket was gone from radiator cap.

There are a few pieces on these cars that everything else seems to have been built around:

- heater core

- rear body mount nut retainer on a convertible (the second part on the assembly line was the reinforcement plate)

- speedo and tach light bulbs. (Followed immediately by the light switch)

Im sure there are many others.

Just removed radiator on a big block:
Hood first, then alternator, fan, upper hose, brackets, shroud, core support, radiator, the lower heater hose came out last!
Whew!
