This isnt somthing I would be able to finance right now but I was just currious to find out if any ones done this before. I would like to supercharge my 454 along with a TPI setup. I know the basics behind centrifugal blowers but not nearly enough. Does anyone know what the advantages would be if I were able to install 2 instead of one? Would I be able to install 2 physically smaller blowers and have the same or more boost as a unit that takes up more space. It would be awsome to have a supercharged engine without it showing through the hood. :yesnod: Any info on centrifugal blowers would be great. Thanks
Kevin
it is very possible:yesnod: id say go for it. if you did 2 of, say, ATI's smaller ProChargers you would defineatly get mucho power. the hard part would be the bracketing. and its difficult to do under the hood if you dont have a serpentine(sp?) belt system. at leats this is what i was told when i was looking for 1 charger. a centrifugal blower is basically (very basically) a belt driven turbo, and there are pleanty of dual roots style blower setups, so i dont know why someone couldnt fabricate a dual centrifugal system. it would be toally custom though, and you would have to shell out some major bucks. you would get decent gas mileage if set up correctly. i spoke with a guy who had a 93 5.0 mustang stock except for slicks and a vortech Y-Trim charger and he was running a low 11. at my altitude. which would be a mid-low 10 at sea level. he said the charger+intercooler gave him better gas mileage, and it was about 23mpg. not bad for a 10second street car!
yeah I was thinking the bracketry would be the hardest part. I was hoping I would be able to set up a serpentine belt to drive them along with my power steering and alternator. I think I wold have to forget about my air conditioning with all this though. mabey my mileage woul improve from my current 8mpg.
