Default Suspension Issues

Hi all
I am new to this so bare with me. I have a 77 vette that I would like to lower. The front I am going to go with adjustable coil overs and the back I was going to go with 10” bolts. Do I have to change the shocks in the back if I am just doing bolts.

What you do have to do is make sure the spring ends are nowhere near the tires! this is quite important.

Thanks for the answer. Many people are telling me to do the shocks also, do you have any more input on what else is involved with replacing with 10’’ bolts.

Thanks I don’t know if my last question posted. Is there anything else I need to do specifically with the 10’’ bolts?

I think 10" will be away to long...I got 10" C4 bolts and cut them down to 8 1/2" drilled the ends and used castle nuts and split pins....sorta make them look stock!
When you have a full tank and two people in ....it sits looow

You could always put coil overs on the rear and set the height you want.

My height changed 1 3/4" going from 6 1/2" std bolt length to 8 1/2",also I didn't trust nylon lock nuts.. that was the other reason I went with castle nuts

One safety factor going to a longer rear spring bolt, is to make sure that the end of the bolt does not extend any lower that the lower lip of the wheel.
If it does and you have a flat, the bolt may contact the roadway which could cause you to loose control or could cause extreme damage to the car and endanger you and others around you.

The only way you are going to be sure is to make some measurements yourself. Disconnect your shocks at the bottom and set your ride height where you want it. Gas shocks will extend themselves and you can measure just how much travel you will have in either the fully extended or fully compressed shock. A relatively easy task in my humble opinion. As long as you are somewhere near the middle you should be OK in normal driving.
