Default Gas tank identification

Pulled the tank on my ‘72 for a good cleaning after water contamination from the failed cork neck gasket. Tank is actually very clean inside and out. Could it possibly be the original?

See attached pics - no tank sticker but there is glue residue where it might have been. The brand is painted on but I can’t make out the beginning characters. Partial Google searches of “mco” leave me guessing.

FYI - reinstalling those tank straps makes me wanna go Full On Bubba and replace them with some nice colorful bungee cords! 🤬🤬🤬

cannt help you with the ID on the tank.
What is the problem with the straps?
Did you fully release the adjustment bolts at the rear cross member?

Yeah, the more I think about it that must be a replacement tank.

I now realize that my strap problem is self inflicted - didn’t hook the straps on the front of the tank before raising it back into place. It’s hard to believe I never worked at NASA...

Thanks for your reply!

That is an original tank have seen that blue company logo on many gas tanks over the years plus the date the steel was produced is 09/24/97

With a vent in both ends, and the bracket for the fuel separator valve, it looks like the tank used with 70-74 Corvettes with a Q-Jet carb. It's not an original GM tank though, as the OEM tanks were only made by O L Anderson and can be identified by the O.L.A. circular logo, stamped in the underside of the tank.

Is correct about the Anderson logo that would be another indicator of original. Also your first photo you can see where the remains of glue that held the cars build sheets during production. The Anderson logo and a few photos of the ink stamp on original gas tanks.

Looks like it is the original - found the OLA logo stamped on the bottom. So it has the OLA stamp along with the blue printing on the top surface as seen in the previous images. Thanks for the info!
