Removing old pistons from rods
Is there a way that I can remove the old preesed pistons from the rods without a press? I would like to smooth and polish the rods prior to taking them to the machine shop. :cheers:

I believe you need to get a little heat on the small ends prior to pressing. Yes, you will need some sort of press. You could try to make a saddle to cradle the piston from wood and fashion a driving device for the pin using a couple of large c-clamps. I watched the machine shop assemble mine, they had a special little furnace to pre-heat the rod small ends and a special press designed for removal and assembly. You might just want them to do it because they have the right equipment. You could then polish the rods and return them to the shop.

Ive always heated the small end and pressed them off since i have a press,but the local shops charge about 8 bucks a rod to remove and put new pistons back on,so ask your shop if you can remove them then bring them back when your done with them.
